Why Enrolling in a Divorce Support Group Could Change Everything

About a month ago, I wrote an article announcing the launch of my virtual Divorce Support Group for Women in Dallas–Fort Worth and across Texas. What I didn’t share then is why this group means so much to me.

Growing up, conflicts in my family were often resolved inwardly. They were swallowed, tucked away, and hidden from the world. But the pain always found its way back to the surface. At 23, I married. Nine months later, I was filling out divorce papers. The truth is, I went through it alone. I was isolated from family and without a support system to help me process the anger, disappointment, shame, and deep sense of failure I carried.

When I was 29, long before I became a therapist or even thought about it, I started writing a book called Get Over Him in an Hour. It was my way of trying to heal myself, but what I would later learn is that grief doesn’t vanish because we demand it to. It can’t be written off or dismissed. It must be felt, experienced, and embraced. And it takes as long as it takes. Between you and I, I am re-writing that book and changing the title (thankfully with more life experience, wisdom, and clinical insight).

Years later, as a therapist, I’ve worked with parties dissolving marriages after 10, 20, even 30 years. At times, I've tried to measure their pain in my mind – the more years the more pain, right? What I’ve come to realize is this: grief is grief. Whether it’s the end of a few months or a few decades, the loss of a relationship reshapes your world. And no one should ever have to walk through that alone.

That’s why I created a virtual divorce therapy group, available to women in and around Dallas and virtually across all of Texas. I created this group, not as a therapist who thinks she has all the answers, but as a woman who once needed what I now provide: a space for women to process, to share, and to heal in community.

About the Group

Our Divorce and Breakup Support Group for Women is an 8-week, virtual, closed group. We’ll meet once a week, creating a consistent space where you’ll feel supported, seen, and understood. Each week covers a different theme—grief and healing, rediscovering your identity, setting healthy boundaries, co-parenting, financial adjustments, and envisioning your future, and more.

Spots are limited so that every voice matters and every story is honored. Once the group begins, enrollment closes to protect the integrity and connection of the space.

Upcoming Session Start Dates: October 9th or October 19th (Thursdays or Sundays).

Duration: 8 weeks

Location: Virtual (open to women in Dallas–Fort Worth and all of Texas)
